Boost Reading Proficiency in Your Tennessee School District

As an education leader in Tennessee, you know how vital it is to help students achieve reading proficiency by the end of third grade. And the need goes beyond that with English language learner (ELL) instruction and reading intervention in grades four and above.

At Reading Horizons, we’ve followed the science of reading for nearly 40 years to provide a foundational reading program that is simple for teachers, effective for students, and gives teachers the confidence to teach anyone to read.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Schedule a Call with your Tennessee Reading Horizons representative.
  2. Get a personalized plan for your schools.
  3. Celebrate reading breakthroughs!

This program completely aligns with the core curriculum used in Tennessee K–3 Tier 1 classrooms. It strongly impacts student reading proficiency in all tiers K–12.

Case Study

Tyler Independent School District Research Study

This rigorous study compared impacts between students whose teachers implemented Reading Horizons Discovery® and those whose teachers did not implement the program during the 2021–2022 school year. Both implementation integrity and student outcomes were measured by the Reading Horizons Implementation Integrity Rubric and the DIBELS 8 assessment, respectively. Students receiving Reading Horizons Discovery® instruction demonstrated a positive effect size of .31, a substantively important positive effect, according to What Works Clearinghouse Evidence Standards.

With exposure to the Reading Horizons method, average student growth was more than double that of students without exposure.

Foundational Literacy for Older Students: Catching Up. Keeping Up. Moving Ahead.

Nearly 66% of fourth- and eighth-grade learners perform below proficient achievement levels in reading. For students grades 4 and beyond who struggle with reading, the path ahead can be difficult and discouraging. For striving readers, newcomers, and students with special needs, we can do more and do it better. And that’s the focus of this edWebinar.

How are you meeting the challenge? How can education partners be supportive in the process?

Becoming a proficient reader is vital to each student’s confidence and success. At Reading Horizons, our focus is teacher empowerment, student engagement, and being a supportive partner. Our method was founded in reading science four decades ago, and we continuously improve our products to align with new research so every student can achieve reading proficiency.

Join The Science of Reading Collective!

For many teachers, the science of reading feels overwhelming because it’s so… different. As you teach, it’s hard to know for sure if you’re getting it “right.”

You shouldn’t have to figure it out on your own. When you join The Science of Reading Collective, you won’t have to. It’s free to join!
